Making Visible the Art Deco Apartments of Capitol Hill
"Deco Next Door" is a new collection of artwork that has been inspired by the many Art Deco apartment buildings in the
Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver. The illustrations are stylized, yet accurate in detail, concentrating primarily on the unique doorways to these structures.
A fanciful Art Deco color palette has been used to reveal hidden decorative details of these buildings, making visible what is often undetectable in their current state of bland beige brick and limestone.
I'm hoping these illustrations will spark a new awareness of these often passed-over buildings and allow them to be seen as the architectural gems they truly are.
